Most people buy this weighted baseplate to have their magazines drop out faster. However, the main reason I bought the is because I carry an extra magazine on my belt at the 9 o'clock position and the stock Glock magazine baseplate has a very sharp pointed corner that digs into my side and its very painful. I find myself moving it around out of the 9 o'clock position to avoid the pain, especially in a seated position. This baseplate with the curves instead of a sharp corner on top fits the bill and is 100% better. However, there still is a sharp edge on the bottom corner of this baseplate on the side that faces the primer of the cartridge. I'm almost tempted to put it to my grinder to round off that sharp edge, especially on the corner that is up against my side. I haven't worn it a whole day yet, not sure if it will be an issue, but rounding off those two corners on the bottom may be a good idea for the next version of this baseplate. In any case, I'll be buying a couple more for my other two magazines, I do really like this baseplate! I did struggle to get the old baseplate off, I tried it with a punch and a C clamp like some youtube videos suggest, but I gave up and ordered the proper tool, which worked great, even without a C clamp. One other thing would be handy, it would be nice to have a small pin to insert into the hole in this new baseplate so I can remove it with my baseplate removal tool. The tool won't work to remove this baseplate as the hole is too deep. If I ever get a bad magazine I'll want to remove it. Not sure just a pin would work, it may fall into the magazine... Perhaps a special Milspin custom tool could be developed, which would be a great addition to their product line.
A great addition to my Gen 5 mags. Added weight helps stabilize the recoil to increase accuracy.
This base plate is next level. The construction and quality are top-notch. It's exactly what my 43X needed after the compensator to help manage recoil.
The look, size and weight are great!!! they fit perfectly on my 10 round glock 45 mags (state compliant). Needed a C-clamp to squeeze just below where you slide the baseplate on
Nice addition of weight to the mag for a clean release and drop from the mag-well. No sharp edges to catch on things if in an exposed pouch, but still easy to index.
NO addition to magazine capacity and therefore “legal” which is clutch in a restrictive state.
